Series Two: Japan: Charles W. Bartlett

Like the earlier Indian series, this series also included a cover print as a bonus for collectors who purchased the entire portfolio. The prints were given broad titles by the publisher Watanabe, indicating that they were intended to be meisho-e, or pictures of famous places. Meisho-e were a genre of landscape prints popularized by the ukiyo-e artist Hiroshige.
