Little is known about the Japanese artist Seifu Matsuda. He was one of the contributors to the 1915 art magazine, Shin Nigao, which was illustrated with small kabuki actor prints. Two of the other artists that contributed to this magazine were Natori Shunsen and Yamamura Toyonari. Matsuda also designed a series of actor prints in chuban format around the same time. At some time later in his life, he illustrated a Japanese book with drawings of the many wigs used in Kabuki theater (Kabuki no katsura). |
