Koichi Okumura

Koichi Okumura was one of many artists who designed woodblock prints for the publisher Unsodo. Born in Kyoto, Okumura was a Japanese-style landscape painter who studied with Nishimura Goun. He graduated from the Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting and exhibited paintings in various exhibitions including Teiten, Shin Bunten, and Nitten. Okumura was a professor at Kyoto City University of Arts and also taught at Saga Fine Arts Junior College.

Okumura's woodblock prints were included in the 1948 series, Twelve Views of Kyoto, along with several other artists. That same year, he also designed a group of smaller chuban prints titled Eight Views of Kyoto. During the earlu 1950s, he designed several other landscape prints, including prints of Mt. Fuji and the Inland Sea.
