This design was published in three distinct versions, each using a different colorway and different printing blocks for the sky. The titles of these three prints are Crescent Moon at Matsue, Cloudy or Hazy Moon at Matsue, and Cloudy Day at Matsue, Izumo.

This is a very rare Hasui print published directly before the Great Kanto Earthquake in September 1923. The printing blocks for Hasui's pre-earthquake designs were destroyed in the resulting fires and were never reprinted.

excellent vibrant color, light toning on verso, numbered with original limited edition seal #18/300 on back; this print was stored inside the original folder and has never been displayed.

excellent rich colors, several repaired margin tears not into image, otherwise good condition, detail of women; this is a beautiful color variant in deep blue tones called an aizuri-e.
